Create an Entryway That WOWs

Entryway1.jpg

The last thing you see when you leave, and the first thing you see when you arrive home:  your entryway. In other words- the place in your house that is the catch-all for anyone and everyone's stuff. Shoes, purses, keys, sweaters, backpacks. We are here to help you turn your catch-all space into a warm and welcoming area that is both practical and stylish.

Take a Seat

You might want to sit down for this one because the first step to an entryway that wows is a stylish bench. Not only does it fill up an empty wall, but it is so practical. After a long day at work, instead of dropping your stuff and kicking your shoes off into a corner, take a seat (and take your time). A bench also gives a great opportunity to decorate. We chose to throw a blanket and pillow on ours to increase the cozy factor.

We're Hooked

"Take your coat off and stay a while" is exactly what hanging hooks on your wall will communicate. It also limits the number of things that will pile up on your bench (or the floor). Based on the season, different items can hang from your hooks to add some personality. For the fall, we chose a black bolero hat and an everyday tote. In the winter, hooks will be kept busy with heavy coats, but feel free to add a wreath or hang some ice skates. In the spring, an umbrella and your raincoat, and in the summer, some ball caps and a packed beach bag.

Shake Your Booties Off

One of the best things you can do for your entryway is add in one or two shoe baskets. We used a wire storage basket so we could show off our bootie(s). If you want a cleaner look, go for a basket that you can't see through (woven, wood, or another type of material). Having your shoes in a confined area will have a huge impact on your space.

Final Touches

Now that you've nailed the practicality part of your entryway, it's time to add some personality. We never let an opportunity to showcase a plant pass us by, and a bright entryway is no exception. We placed this tree in one of our Maiz baskets to add a touch of boho/indie flare to the space. We already mentioned our textured linens (which always adds some dimension!), but let's talk about this rug! Rugs are a perfect way to add a pop of color and make your entryway look like an intentional area.  Lastly, we topped off our entryway (literally) with a hanging photo of our favorite band.
